Press Release
Napa Valley Community Award Nominations Due February 27, 2009A chance to recognize a "hero" in your communityNAPA, CA, Feb. 27, 2009 -- The tutor who helps struggling adults learn to read; the dynamo who boosts tourism; the nurse who volunteers to immunize seniors at a free clinic; the community college student who perseveres against all odds: they transform a place into a true "community." It’s everyday heroes such as these that the Napa Chamber Foundation and Mechanics Bank seek to recognize through the third annual Napa Valley Community Awards program, “Celebrating Community.” Now through March 27th, you can nominate your own favorite Napa County community leaders to be recognized for outstanding contributions and achievements toward the betterment of the communities of Napa Valley. The nominees will be evaluated on their commitment to go above and beyond the requirements of a particular professional, or reach outside the boundaries of their own world to meet the needs of others. Nominations will be accepted for in each of the following categories: community booster, healthcare professional, college student, hospitality and tourism, nonprofit employee and nonprofit organization. Separate community awards also will recognize a top teacher and a local public safety professional.
Winners will be announced on Friday, April 10th, and the awards will be presented at a gala luncheon on Tuesday, May 12th at the Silverado Resort. For more information about the Napa Valley Community Awards, contact the Napa Chamber at (707) 226-7455.
